Post-Compile Functionality Edition aka Hex Edition
@ Articles -> Programming     Sep 15 2008, 13:47 (UTC+0)
lone_REBEL writes: INTRODUCTION:
To introduce the subject of post-compile edition, we begin with this code in VB:

Const data As String "This is some data"
If data "This is some data" Then

'do something
Else
   '
do something
End
If

With a single glance at this code, anyone would say "The Else section is absolutely useless because the condition will never be false and the Else section would never be executed." They are totally WRONG. Although the Else section will never be followed in design time, but when the code has been compiled to an exe file, the Else section CAN be followed. Welcome to the world of post-compile edition, changing the behavior of a program after it has been compiled into an exe file.

Designing digital systems part II– Designing combinational systems
@ Articles -> Hardware     Apr 30 2008, 00:51 (UTC+0)

Cygnum writes: Now that the fundamentals have been laid out in part 1, in this part of the article we'll deal with the first major topic of this article – that is how we design a simple combinational system. We've seen Boolean algebra, logic circuits and gates, but what's the purpose of those? How are they used?
Here I'll bring you four examples of designing a combinational system from the ground up – from the basic idea or concept to a logic circuit that does what we wanted it to do, and additional 5th less comprehensive but very important example of a multiplexer. On top of that, the 4th example includes a review of a datasheet of a real chip. I urge you not to read this article without reading part 1 first or knowing the subjects it covers from somewhere else. Part 1 can be found here.
